The Chamber offers numerous services and benefits to members, all at little or no charge. Take a few minutes to learn more about the many benefits of membership
Publicity and Marketing Opportunities:
The best way to get your company's name known in the community is through Chamber membership and involvement. The Chamber is the center of business life in Tulare and is an excellent vehicle for promoting your business.
- Listing and advertising in the Tulare Chamber of Commerce Membership Directory and Community Profile - 6,000 copies of this publication are distributed and only businesses affiliated with the Chamber are listed in it.
- Website listing -Businesses can be looked up by either name or business category on the Chamber's website - www.tularechamber.org. Additionally, members with their own websites can receive a free link from the Chamber site.
- Display business cards and brochures Members can place their promotional materials in both the Chamber lobby and at our Welcome Center located at the Horizon Outlet. Approximately 1,000 people visit these locations each month.
- Exclusive opportunities to advertise in the monthly Chamber Update newsletter, our membership directory, city map, Profile Display and other publications. Advertising in most of these areas is limited strictly to Chamber members.
- News articles in the Chamber Update - Members are invited to send news releases about their businesses or organizations, and every effort is made to include this information in the Chamber newsletter.
- Business referrals - the Chamber and our Welcome Center get hundreds of calls and visits each month from people who are looking for particular goods or services in our area. Only Chamber members are referred.
- Ribbon cuttings or ground breaking - if you have a new or newly relocated business, we can help you get the word out by helping with a ribbon cutting or ground breaking ceremony
- Membership Plaque - Members are given a professional plaque for display at your place of business. When your customers and clients see the plaque in your office, they know that you support your community.
Making the right business contacts is essential for your business success. The Chamber offers many venues for you to make new business contacts:
- Networking - The Chamber organizes Business After Hours Mixers and many other events where you can meet potential customers and clients and establish important business relationships
- Committee Participation - Getting involved in a committee is an excellent way to meet other business people. Become a Chamber Ambassador and make valuable contacts with your fellow members every month.
- Access to Chamber Mailing List - Membership lists are provided free to members, and mailing labels can be purchased for a nominal cost
Keeping up to date is important to your success. The Chamber offers many educational and professional development opportunities to help keep you on the cutting edge of business and community issues.
- Leadership Tulare - The Chamber coordinates and sponsors Leadership Tulare, a ten-month course designed to give individuals insight into the issues and opportunities facing our community and train them to become effective community leaders.
- Workshops - The Chamber offers periodic workshops on issues of importance to your business. Topics dealing with employment law, marketing and customer service help arm our members with the information they need to operate efficiently and effectively.
A rising tide raises all ships. When the Chamber helps to bring new jobs and more visitors into town, there are economic benefits for everyone.
- The Chamber has a long-standing partnership with the City of Tulare to provide economic development services. Our staff works to recruit new business to our area, assisting them with site location, permitting, and whatever else they need to help the development process go smoothly.
- The Chamber compiles and maintains up-to-date demographics on our area that are used to promote Tulare as an ideal place to do business.
- The Chamber's Citywide Marketing staff works to promote Tulare as a destination. More people visiting Tulare for business or leisure purposes equates to more dollars spent in our community.
- The Chamber coordinates the Stay Tulare billboard advertising program, which has led to increased occupancy in our local motels and more tourism income circulated in our city.
- The Chamber works closely with our education system to promote business-education partnerships, helping to ensure a qualified future workforce.
- The Chamber creates and publishes numerous items that help to promote our community including a calendar of events, city map, community profile, list of things to do, and lists of various types of services available.
Sound government and responsible legislation are key to a healthy economy. The Chamber works with local, regional, state and federal lawmakers on your behalf to be the voice of business.
- Our governmental affairs committee meets on a regular basis to discuss issues affecting local business. Legislative representatives attend these meetings, keeping the lines of communication constantly open between the Chamber and our elected officials.
- Our staff participates in a weekly conference call with business lobbyists who work at the State level. We take positions on dozens of bills and communicate those positions to our local representatives and the Governor.
- The Chamber publishes the voting records of our representatives on key business issues in our newsletter, helping to keep voters informed of their representatives performance.
- Before most elections, the Chamber sponsors candidates forums to help the public make educated election-day choices.
