Tulare County is the second most productive agricultural county in the nation, just behind our neighbors to the north, Fresno County. More than 250 different products are grown in Tulare County, with 47 having annual sales of more than $1 million each. In 2002, the Tulare County Agricultural Commissioner reported the county's gross agricultural revenue at more than $3.2 billion. Approximately 28% of the County's employment base is employed in the ag industry. 

At the backbone of Tulare County's economy is the dairy industry. The County's 342,600 dairy cows produce more than 8.9 billion pounds of milk each year. The nation's largest single-site dairy complex is located in Tulare and operated by Land O' Lakes.
