The city of Tulare is served by the Tulare City School District which includes nine elementary and three middle schools, and the Tulare Joint Union High School District which oversees two high school campuses and the Tulare Adult School. Three alternative schools are also included in the High School District. 

College of the Sequoias, a two-year college located just a few miles away in Visalia, offers AA Degrees and certificate programs. Plans are underway for a satellite campus to open in Tulare in 2012. Additionally, The Cal Poly Rita Bee Hill Higher Education Center recently began offering continuing education courses in Tulare and Visalia. The California State University System has two campuses within an hour's drive in Fresno and Bakersfield.
